The PADI Discover Scuba Diver program is an excellent first experience as your first step in diving. If you want to try scuba diving but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is for you. While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. This program delivers you an immersing experience in the underwater world in just 3 hours.

We teach you the very basics of the practical parts of diving without going into detail about theory and technique, just enough for you to have a comfortable understanding of breathing underwater. After a short briefing, you and your instructor will have an hour pool session with all the equipment to learn four essential skills. After the pool, you will go on an actual dive at one of our many dive sites in the Gili Islands to a maximum depth of 12 meters and a maximum time of 1 hour under the direct supervision of your instructor.

The PADI Discover Scuba Diver program is not a certification program. It’s an introduction to scuba diving, after which you will not have a diving certification or license.

OUR DIVING SESSIONS

We run the Discover Scuba Diver program 2 times a day :

Morning session :
Appointment at the dive center at 8:30am : briefing, pool session , 1 ocean dive.
We will be back from the dive around 11:30am.
Afternoon session :
Appointment at the dive center at 12:00am : briefing, pool session , 1 ocean dive.
We will be back from the dive around 3:00pm.
Booking need to be completed at least one day before your dive program for the morning session or early morning if you choose the afternoon session at the dive center.
Pre-booking, to guarantee availability, is possible online by contacting us.

For our guests coming from Lombok, in the Senggigi area, the planning is a bit different based on where they are located. Do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

MARINE PARK FEE

All divers are required to pay a one-off Marine Park fee of 100 000 IDR.
This one-time payment of 100 000 IDR will be paid in cash at the dive shop upon your arrival.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN ?

The program is divided into three parts, Briefing, Confined water, Open Water Dive.

The Briefing

During the briefing, your instructor will explain the basics of the dive. It will provide you with all the information you need to be comfortable and answers any questions you may have.

The Confined Water

In the swimming pool, your instructor will teach you a few basic skills and breathing techniques to ensure you are comfortable with the equipment.

The Open Water Dive

The open water dive is up to 1 hour to a maximum depth of 12 meters, under direct instructor supervision. We only work with small groups to make your experience as personal as possible.

THE OBJECTIVES

DISCOVER HOW TO BREATHE AND MOVE UNDERWATER.
DISCOVER HOW TO CLEAR A PARTIALLY FLOODED MASK.
DISCOVER HOW TO CONTRÔLE YOUR BUOYANCY.
DISCOVER HOW TO SWIM WITH FINS.
DISCOVER BEAUTIFUL MARIN LIFE LIKE TURTLES, NEMO, DORY…

THE PREREQUISITES

AT LEAST 10-YEAR-OLD (or younger, check out the “Bubble Maker Program”).
ABILITY TO SWIM.
MEDICAL CLEARANCE FOR ANY PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. [ DOWNLOAD THE MEDICAL FORM ]
PLEASE SEND US AN EMAIL, CALL US OR DROP BY AT DSM DIVE TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATION AT LEAST ONE DAY BEFORE YOU PLAN TO DIVE.
THERE ARE STRICT RESTRICTIONS WHEN FLYING TO ALTITUDE AFTER DIVING. YOU NEED TO WAIT FOR A MINIMUM OF 18 HOURS AFTER YOUR LAST DIVE, SO PLEASE PLAN YOUR FLIGHTS AND MOUNTAIN HIKING TRIPS ACCORDINGLY.

BOOKING

In the dive industry, the booking has to be completed at least one day before the course. Diving is not too complicated, but it takes a lot of logistical support and organization. Each diver has to come in person to the dive center to complete the pre-course paperwork and to receive the teaching material. With your instructor, we will explain your personal plan and how the course will proceed.

HOW TO CONTINUE ON DIVING ?

If you are interested in becoming a certified diver, we recommend that you take the PADI Open Water course. This certification will allow you to dive anywhere in the world in a buddy system up to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
